Barbecue Defined By BBQFreaks.com Pit Master, Bill Parlaman

Depending on what part of the world you're from the word "barbecue" can mean many different things to many different people.

Heck, barbecue can even be spelled ten different ways!

Think about it for a second, you have-Barbecue, BBQ, Bar-B-cue, bar-b-Que and even just plain ole' "Que!" ( The last one is my favorite)

Just ask anyone from Texas what their definition of barbecue is, then ask someone from the Carolina's and then ask someone from Georgia.

You're sure to get three very different answers.

In most circles of the world today barbecue means throwing a hot dog or a hamburger on a gas grill or Weber Kettle and cooking the meat over high direct heat.

But what I'd really like to share with you is the process of slowly cooking meat, ( Usually Pork, Beef or Chicken) over indirect heat and at lower temperatures then you would normally grill a hot dog, hamburger or even a steak.

But here's the point, while barbecue means different things to different folks, the one constant is always the people!

A barbecue is really a social gathering where your family and friends come together and enjoy excellent food in the company of your loved ones.

So I hope your ready to discover the fabulous world of true southern style barbecue and your family can have yet another great reason to spend quality time with each other while enjoying fantastic food!

Sound good? Great, I hoped you would say that!
